about YOGA AND ME

Namaste! My name is Irina Serkebayeva. I am a certified and registered yoga teacher (RYT 500) and a certified yoga therapist (CYT800). I teach Hatha Yoga in Krishnamacharya Therapeutic Tradition.   

Krishnamacharya's yoga is about individual approach and healing even if I work with the group. The greatest teacher of all times Krishnamacharya gave us powerful tools to improve people’s health and quality of life.  

Each class starts with pranayama or breathing exercises because breathing brings us to well being, gives us energy or relaxation. All the tools of yoga work together and I love to use them all in combination depending on who is in front of me and what my student needs at the moment. 

I teach in English, Russian and Italian languages: 

-Groups and individuals all over the Lee and Collier counties in SW Florida, in the studios, recreational center environment, in the hospital, rehabilitation centers, senior communities and private premises. Many people prefer practicing yoga in the comfort of their own homes or lanai.  

-Live regular groups online and people find it convenient and beneficial. 

-Chair yoga as well and have experience teaching students with motor disabilities. I was teaching at United Cerebral Palsy of SW Fl as a part of the Florida Yoga Academy volunteering project.  Now I work with dementia, ALS, autism patients, people with postoperative conditions, musculoskeletal system problems, and so on.   

I am a published author as well. I wrote five books in the Russian language and three of them are classical musicians' biographies. So, my students may expect the best quality music as a background for the classes. Besides, at some point, I published a number of articles in the women's magazines, kind and peaceful stories about our everyday life.  Russian is my first language and I can teach yoga in Russian as well even though I studied as a yoga teacher in English.
