"I have been practicing yoga under the guidance of Irina in an online format for several years now, and I can say that I have not yet met a better teacher, even though I have practiced with other instructors before. Irina is not just a yoga master; she is a true therapist with extensive experience working with people in rehabilitation centers. Her ability to clearly and visually convey information, as well as her individual approach to each student, make her classes especially effective and interesting. Our group mainly consists of mid age people, but Irina also works with the youth, particularly with the university students in Florida, as part of a medical study on the impact of yoga on human health. Her multifaceted interests in the fields of languages, literature, neurography, and even book writing add a wonderful diversity and appeal to her personality. Irina, thank you very much for your work, patience, expertise, and inspiration. Your guidance and support on the path of yoga have become an invaluable source of inner balance and well-being for me. I absolutely recommend yoga lessons with Irina to everyone. It's something extraordinary: calming, relaxing, and at the same time, energizing and life-affirming. Try it, you will definitely like it!" "I've been practicing for over two years with Irina. And I never thought that yoga was for people with poor health, no flexibility, and generally not athletic at all. And overall, I'm skeptical about promises to improve my health condition. But I knew Irina as a very responsible and honest person, and that's the only reason I decided to take a risk - she's not one to lie. I tried it. Then I tried it again. And then I realized that I would only give up these sessions in the most extreme case. No, there won't be miracles like "did the exercises twice and everything became perfect." But after some time, I noticed that my chronic pains, which have lasted for many, many years, have partially disappeared or significantly lessened. I found out how to relieve tension in my back with movements that didn't help before but now work. The flare-ups have become much less frequent. No, I haven't become a flexible cat, I can't tie myself into some complex knot. But life has become much easier for me. And that's worth a lot. Many thanks to Irina and her classes". Julia H. Hamburg, Germany
Especially for older adults, I offer chair yoga classes. These sessions help improve flexibility, strengthen muscles, and enhance coordination while minimizing the strain on joints.
Working with People Suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer's is my very special project.
I am so proud of this work with people suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's. Our sessions are adapted to meet the special needs of this group of participants, helping them improve their quality of life through specialized yoga techniques.
It's crucial to understand that yoga therapy is not equated with medical treatment, does not fall under the medical field, lacks medical licensure, and does not replace professional medical advice.
“Yoga therapy is a self-empowering process, where the care-seeker, with the help of the Yoga therapist, implements a personalized and evolving Yoga practice, that not only addresses the illness in a multi-dimensional manner, but also aims to alleviate his/her suffering in a progressive, non-invasive and complementary manner. Depending upon the nature of the illness, Yoga therapy can not only be preventative or curative, but also serve a means to manage the illness, or facilitate healing in the person at all levels.” TVK Desikachar
The term "therapy," commonly associated with medical treatment, originates from the Greek word "therapia," meaning to take care of. The concept was first introduced in the context of yoga by Krishnamacharya, the father of modern yoga, who emphasized healing through yoga practices.
I have experience teaching yoga to clients with dementia, ALS, autism, musculoskeletal system problems, post-operating conditions and etc. With the doctor's approval many people practice yoga feeling better, stronger, and happier. I teach yoga in the local hospitals and work privately with clients as well. Currently, as a yoga therapist, I am participating in a medical study at FGCU aimed at examining the impact of sensory yoga on the heart rhythms and health of neurodiverse students.
I also teach my own chair yoga which I have developed over the years of training patients of the Memory Health and Assisted Living patients.
As a yoga therapist I actively collaborate with the scientific community by participating in studies aimed at exploring the impact of yoga on human health. This allows not only to expand knowledge but also to implement the most effective techniques in practice.
"Irina is a skilled, therapy-level yoga instructor. She has been instrumental in making our study of the effects of sensory-friendly yoga a meaningful and impactful experience for our participants and research colleagues. Irina has an outstanding ability to tailor the experience to the unique needs of each individual in session". A. Connor
